7mm 120gr Ballistic Tip has proven to be the best!Review by Steven / (Posted on 3/16/2017)In over 55 years of hunting, I have sought to discover what combination of rifle, scope and cartridge is the most effective for deer sized animals to include heavy mule deer and wild pigs. I went through a number of bullets and calibers before discovering that according to ballistics charts, backed up by field work, the 7mm bullet is the best flyer and the most effective killer up to and including the 175 gr. 7mm bullets. For some years, I hand loaded the Nosler 140gr. Accubond and found it to be very effective. Then I wanted a little more MV in order to create a flatter trajectory for shooting Mule Deer and Pronghorns in Wy. I got what I wanted from loading the Nosler 7mm 120gr Ballistic Tip (hunting) for my 280 Rem. cartridges, as well as for my wife's 7mm-08 cartridges. For six years now, we have bagged white tail, muley, pronghorn and wild pigs, shot from 50 yards to 400 yards. Only a very few took more than one step after being hit with that 120gr. BT bullet. All penetration, save for on one large hog was thru and thru. The bullet found in the off side, frontal armor of the hog, had broken his left shoulder, traversed his body and stopped in that tough hide in the frontal area on his right side. That bullet retained 95 gr. of the original 120 gr., which in my opinion is excellent service on a very tough animal. The bullet looked like a partially open flower with sharp peddles, leaving a very wide, bloody bullet channel in the hog. If you want more MV from your rifle shooting 7mm bullets, try that Nosler 7mm 120gr. Ballistic Tip (hunting) bullet. You will not be sorry.
